Audi pollen filter

Some people wrote to me personally about this subject, but for those of you
on the list interested in this subject:

I got it today, the Audi part number is 893 091 401

It's intended for:
 Audi 80     9/86 ->
 Audi 90     2/87 ->
 Audi 80Q    9/86 ->
 Audi 90Q    2/87 ->
 Audi Coupe 12/88 ->

It fits models with and without A/C, and according to the specs it filters:
- particles >0.01 µm >50% (soot, tobacco smoke),
- particles >0.1 µm >50% (asbestos, bacteria)
- particles >1.0 µm >90% (dust)
- particles >10.0 µm >90% (pollen)
It's effective between temperatures of -40 deg C and +80 deg C and up to
100% humidity. When new it reduces air flow by 7.5%, after 9.5 K miles less
than 15%.

Fitting it looks easy, complete fitting instructions are supplied. You take
the wipers off, and remove the black plastic cover that's underneath.
On the left is the fresh air inlet, you take off the cover and replace it
by the supplied plastic adapter. From then on it's a question of replacing
the paper microfilter 893 091 700 every 9.5 K miles or 12 months. These are
relatively cheap. The plastic adapter makes it come to about $60 total (at
least over here).
When I get round to fitting it, I'll let you know if difficulties arise.

At last the trees won't get their junk inside my car, and sitting in
gridlock will be less annoying. Now I can vacuum my car and be done with it
for some time instead of being bombarded by tree seeds and leaves every
time I turn on the blower! It should also reduce the need for cleaning the
inside of my 'screen.

Bye,

Tom
