ok, so my 86 type 44q with KG engine has WC turbo with the after run water pump 
and dual filters (true about being messy to change the 2nd filter) and regular  
changes of mobil1 and bosch (anti-drainback valve) filters and i let it cool    
before shutoff.  if i upgrade my oil cooler i think i'll have the most          
protective combination available.  then i could add an accusump pre-oiler and a 
turbo timer...
