conti visit & rim paint

hi kirby, my visualization of the finish is as tom says- a highly polished
rim over which has been applied a clear coat, to which enough black has been
added to give a <smokey> colour. because the basic colour is a clear, the
light will penetrate it and when reflected back out by the polished yields
the attractive high depth smoked finish. on a lesser quality wheel the
similar effect can be acheived by applying a silver flake base over which
you then apply the blackened clear. with any of these coatings, the trick
<experience> is to apply even coats as the build-up of black increases with
eack pass. otoh building several layers of shading also gives unique and
often attractive results.
