!!! Flame me now !!!

Ok guys... here is your chance to really flame someone.
I want pure unaltered fire... burnin' big time...!!! Heck,
I won't even have suit on when I read the responses!
So flame on...

(Bob D. this one is for you, for all the heat you have taken from
these guys on the list...)

Here it goes... I sold my Ur-quattro for a VW.

I know everyone might think that I am nuts, but my old coupe
was my daily driver and we needed a car that was much bigger.
Having a '90 20v and an Ur-q as our only cars didn't cut the mustard.
My wife and I are expecting a newborn child to enter into this
cruel flaming world near the end of Feb. and I NEEDED a car that
could replace my trusty Ur-q. What could replace an Ur-q you ask?

A 1988 VW syncro wagon.

So, this is also the car that I bought if it wasn't a quattro too...
Here are the pluses over my old 1983 Ur-q and what reeled me
into this...
1. 26-28 mpg (can't touch dat with an Ur-q...)
2. A real AUDI 5 cyl 2.22 ltr 115hp engine
3. 016 quattro transmission, quattro rear diff
4. 5 years newer (this goes without saying)
5. Still has the 'old style' air system with cold on the face and hot feet
6. 5 doors (two rear doors for the new baby seat and 1 big-ass trunk)
7. Roll-back sunroof
8. Half as much money
9. Way cheaper parts
10. A/C system works!
11. Major upgrading funds for the fatherly syncroquattrowagon
12. Rear swing arm suspension, not a reversed front end.
13. I can experience farhervergnugen once again!

Here's what I lost;
1. Hwy power and tickets
2. Noise
3. Leaky windshield
4. Crappy petrol mpg's
5. Ur-q owner status... does it matter? (heck I'll start a SportSyncro
something...)
6. Driving feel & pleasure
7. Expensive $$$ hard to find parts
8. Broken window regulators
9. Low voltage problems
10. A very rare car, that I loved much (family must come first tho...)

We were thinking of upgrading to a '91 200 tqw but, too much.
So there, this was my only choice. This particular VW is not really
a 'Syncro' as like the '86-87 Vanagons are with the Puch system.
It is a True 4KCSquattro wagon.

I bought the Syncro from Libra Racing (the boys at John Buffum & Co.)
and it has been serviced by them as well from the past owners.
Matter of fact, John Buffum had the lead for the new owner of my Ur-q.
My old Ur-q coupe is in the hands of a fellow in Virginia now. He did the
same as I and flew two hours one way to pick it up and drove like the
wind to get it home. It all happened in four days right after Christmas.

So flame me on, tell me I'm nuts, email me bad things... etc....
But, I made a wise choice and I am on the road to becoming a
father in my Syncroquattrowagon!

ps. I might drop a 20v in it some time... See ya on the track.
