For the U.S. Coupe engines, the 2144cc WE and 2226cc KX engines are
non-interfering, while the 2309cc NG engine is interfering.  So, while
you should be concerned, you do not need to fear for your engine's
life.  You should unbolt the cam belt cover and take a look at the
condition of the belt.  That should either (1) reassure you, or (2) make
you very afraid.  The belt takes all of 15 minutes to check (you need a
6mm hex socket), and is well worth the time invested.

I have heard that even the non-interfering engines can have problems if
the timing belt breaks at high RPMs, though, so change it as soon as
you can afford it.
