Re: 10V I-5s don't rev

Sure they do, but you have to use the correct 5-cyl relay 321-906-059-F if
I remember, looked it up right after I got to work today then forgot to write
it down.
Sounds like you too have ended up with a 4-cyl relay ( kinda hit 5300 and
all the RPM leaks out huh?)
If you look at the relay you will see terminal #1 , #15, 31, #30 & some 87
stuff maybe.
30 is un-fused battery voltage.
31 ground
87 I recall maybe ( the stuff that's switched )
15 is key on voltage.
1 is trigger contact ( used to be ignition point signal to the coil )
It's crash worthiness stuff, if you crash and rupture a fuel line, the loss
of pressure
makes the engine stall, when the engine stalls the hall sender in the
distributor
no longer makes 'da blink-blink stuff from the rotating stator wheel, trigger
contact
doesn't go to the relay so it shuts off the pump and stops the fuel flow
from
the ruptuerd line.
Now you can see that's why they put the rev limiter in the fuel pump realy,
it gets
the correct signal and shuts off the right stuff. Now get out you calculator
and
divide the 5300 RPM by 4, then multiply the result by 5... see ! Buy the
right
relay and you can make enough R's to make your cam belt beg for mercy.
By the way, rev your engine to 4.8k, pull out the relay, then stuff it back
in
right away ... do the noise sound like that ?
