'82 100 2.2i final problems (i hope!)
Hi All,
Now that my FI system is hopefully sorted, I plan on fixing the other bits
of the car (1982 Audi 100 2144cc 5-cyl K-Jet inj) that don't work properly.
They are:
1 - Knackered bearing type noise from (i'm told when cambelt was changed)
water pump. Q - what will happed if this goes completely. Will the pump
stop functioning, engine overheat due to lack of flow; Will it seize,
ripping teath of the cambelt, and wrecking the head, or leak water, and
cause a head warp due also to overheating? Should I change it immediately,
or wait 20k and change it with the belt.
2 - O/S external Door catch inoperable (beleive common). Is this an easy
and cheap fix? Should I forget about it, and carry on opening the door from
the inside. Also, how easy are the lock barrels to change, mine can be
opened with a (carefully sculptured) paper clip!
3 - Fuel guage erratic. Usually reads nothing, sometimes correct level,
otherwise somewhere in between. Does this sound electrical, or is it more
likely to be mechanical, i.e. delve into the tank time.
Any help to perfect this Audi will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers again,
Mike
