RI Car show report, 4000CSQ
WELLL!!!!
Carter Johnson stunned the Rhode Island automotive seen by showing his Alpine
white 86 4000CS Quattro at the VMCCA Father's Day Classic Car show. I was in
class Q, Foreign Sport, which comprised of....1973 911S, 1993 911 RS America,
1991 Ferrari 348 TS, 1987 Autokraft Cobra replica, 1967 MB 260 SL, 1986
911SC, and a beautiful Alfa Sport Veloce (spell??). I judged the class,
along with my Father (aww.....) Anthony Curreri, owner of the 93 911RS
America (Absolutly stunning car in Midnight blue metallic) took second place
to the well restored Alfa. He beat out the Ferrari, who's owners were
slightly stunned that we had not picked their car, but I found some dirt,
sorry. Anthony also owns a 91 V8 Quattro Auto, and a 87 4000CS Quattro. All
in all, it was a lovely day. I had several people inquire about my car,
looking with wide eyes at the slightly shaved Yokohama A-008R's the car was
wearing. 2 4000 owners approached me, and we had entertaining conversations
that went something like this...
Them "What a great car this is, but it's had some funny things go wrong.."
Me "Like?..."
T "Well, the exhaust whe.."
M "Center section. Done it."
T " Exactly...same here..and the door hand.."
M" Replaced 3 of them...all in december."
T "Whoa, same here..."
And so on, ranging from rust spots to brakes. Actually had one person
exclaim to me..."Hey, you spelled your plate wrong. (KWATRO)." "Oh, yeah,
Thanks." was my responce...QUATRO was unavailable. I am switching to A4000Q
or 4000CS, I guess. Too many looks.
