none really
Nice to see you on Saturday. Appologise to your daughter if we made her
late for the Birthday party :-)
I managed to nearly fix my "top end" running problem on Sunday, although
Im not quite sure why it would fix it.
While we were at Langford Garage, he pointed out the `iccle' screw on
top of the waste-gate which is used to increase the boost pressure slightly.
Anyway I took the plunge yesterday and gave it half a turn clockwise....
No real affect, but the engine may have been running a little bit
smoother. (at this point I was on the way to the local garage to get a
nail pulled out my tyre....)
When I got home I cleaned all that sealent stuff off my wheel, and then give
it another 1/2 turn clockwise, so I now have a full clockwise turn on it.
I went to Hull last night and the engine was clearly running smoother. So
on the way home down the M62 I let rip to see if the top end was any better.
(Plesae note this is my private stretch of the M62, and has nothing at
all to do with the M62 that runs between Liverpool and Hull...honest
occifer).
It pulled to an indicated 140mph with out trailing off, loosing power or
anything that it was doing before, all in the process of pis#ing a guy off
in his BMW (my car is faster than anything else on the road) 3 Series.
Before anyone jumps up and down and tells me that increasing my boost
pressure would of course increse my top end performance, my engine was
running really wierd above 4000rpm before I got the spanners out
yesterday, and now its running really nice, with hardly any noticable
powerloss like I had before once the engine got spinning.
Another thing that also makes me think that Im not going to blow my
engine to peices is the fact that the screw in the top of the waste-gate
is not exactly a tight fit, and chances are its worked its way loose in
the first place.
So just as a quick question, if the spring pressure in my waste-gate was
not as much as it should be, would this make the top end performance tail
off, to a point where the Midrange was actually stronger?
Now Im going to be really sad and tell you that Max Power are going to
Hull next Sunday night, so I might just have to turn up.
