computer probs

I am unfortunately off the list (due to volume), but was hoping that someone
has some experience with the "Auto-check" system on my '90 200T. The oil
light (and worse the bell) goes on sporadically. This will sometimes go
on for 10-15 mins over and over again (driving me insane as you could imagine)
I know the pressure is good according to the gauge and my level is always right
there. In addition, the distance to empty is always WAY off (like 60 miles with 
almost a 1/2 tank) AND the display sometimes dissapears for no reason and then
reappears. Is there one chip that controls the whole thing that I could replace ?
