Coupe GT digital dash washout

That's the same dash fitted to the ur-quattros of the same vintage, including 
mine.  I have _zero_ problems seeing the dash in bright sunlight.  

However - tinting the sides and rear without tinting the front is going to fool 
the dash's automatic brightness controls, isn't it?
