Re: location of fuel pump relay

Thanks Andrew, I spent even more time under the dash today. I traced
the loom with the appropriate wire back to the area above the left knee. I
then actually unbolted the fuse box and dropped it down. With the car idling
I found the correct relay, I also took a pretty close inspection of the fuse
box itself. The fusebox was actually in great condition, no crusties or
burns. I did however find some warm wires, the same circuit as the fuel
pump (green wire/yellow tracer) there was a plug type connector that showed
alot or resistance and had the wires a bit charred about 3/4 of an inch
either side of the connection. I put a new high quality connector in place
(I cant believe they gave me enough wire to do this) and replaced the female
connectors to the back of the 30a F/P fuse as they looked a lil worse than I
liked.
I assume the idle switch is the thing that could pass for the cold start
valve to an untrained eye... I pulled the connector of and found some nice
corrosion in there, I cleaned tightened the contacts and reinstalled with a
lil' dab of dielectric. Upon my test drive the cut-out was gone, we will
just se for how long....I have my fingers crossed, but am not holding my
breath.
One strange thing was that on my first full throttle up shift I had a
slight stumand then a nice backfire. It only did this once, and I tried a
few more times to make it happen. For now, all seems well, but....

thanks,
Sean.
