I made mine out of a round steel tube, using the original Audi tool as a 
model (courtesy of Mike Z. here on the list). In order to drive it I turned 
down the O.D. on a useless inch-sized, Taiwan made socket with a 1/2" square 
so that it went into the round bore on the opposite end of the pipe and 
welded it on the perimeter.

I did my car with this tool, then loaned it to Gary S. and he did his. 
Worked well in both cases.
