As a foreigner I am also confused by 16 ounces in 1 pound. Or by a week, that 
begins on Sunday. Or by my sheer inability to grasp at a glance the meaning of a 
sign *NO RIGHT TURN from 8am to 9.15am, from 10.45am to 1.15pm*, that graces the 
intersection near my house. Or by a date format mm.dd.yy. All of these are SO 
awkward and illogical, that there's gotta be a reason behind those inventions. 
Like the hand of KGB or something ;)

Oh, wait a minute, you were talking about Britain here. Silly me, I thought we're 
discussing the U.S. of A. When I visited Britain a month ago, I spent 11 
absolutely wonderfull days in a Metric Paradise.
