A SCIENTIFIC STUDY: 5K/100/A6 VS. 4K/90/A4



Hey fellow Qheads, I have been doing some research in my Audi Library (which
is every brochure from 1986-1998), and have the following research project to
submit to you all for consideration: 

The following is a comparison of the 5K/100/A6 line to the 4K/90/A4 line in
regards to performance.  I compared all previous USA generations of the
5K/100/A6( in automatic form since that was the only way they came in the
past 2 generations for the most part) to the 4K/90/A4 line.  The 4K/90/A4 was
compared in manual Q form since this setuo has been available from the '85
generation.  I found the results to be very interesting, so check them out:

1983 5KT automatic ---I've had one of these---(source: Road and Track)

As you can see with the 5K/100/A6 line, pounds per hp lowered every
generation, yet over the past 3 generations, these cars have gotten SLOWER!
 But let's look at the 4K/90/A4 series:

24.6 pounds per hp

0-60: 8.5 sec

22.7 pounds per hp

Here the pounds per hp lowers every generation, AND the cars get FASTER with
every generation...WHAT'S MY POINT? That the larger 5K/100/A6 gets more hp
per pound with every generation, yet they get SLOWER!  The 4K/90/A4 line gets
less pounds per hp with every generation, and they get FASTER.  So, the real
fun lies in the 4K/90/A4 line!  Audi needs to slim the A6 and give it more
kick so that it's figures match the K/90/A4 line.   I have really come around
to the styling of the new A6, but if you want to kick some butt, you still
have to go with the A4.

This is what I did on Saturday night when a serious headache kept me from
hitting the town with my friends.
