When I got my 200T about 4 months ago I was all for mods since this
is my first vehicle and my insurance agency kept claiming it to be
a high performance vehicle. I was not on the list then and would
try anything that came to mind. Typical young-aged guy. I have
however calmed down and only do work to bring my vehicle back
to its original state, only once that is complete will I perform
modifications. When I was "all mods" a while back I regularly
called the SA Audi/Porsche stripping works and asked extra parts.
I was interested in doing a conversion to a manual tranny, but the
S4 box was US$3000 and I'd still need to make an adapter plate to
fit it. :) However, one thing I really wanted to do was fit the
quattro system in place of the FWD I now run through my 3-speed
auto tranny. I spoke to the guy at the stripping works and he said
they could get me all the parts I'd need, but that the job was
incredibly huge and what I should do is buy the quattro body from
them. Now I see from this thread that there is someone who is modifying
FWD motors to incorporate the quattro system. The guy I spoke to told
me I'd need to replace the centre tunnel of the chassis to carry
the extra shaft. So I was wandering how much of a job would it be to
modify the body on the 200T to carry the quattro drive system, this
would include modifications to the rear axle system and suspension.
Also, what electronics would be involved?
Sorry for barging in on this URQ 20V thread. :)
