After replacing the thermostat and hi temp sensor, it is
now clear that the problem is in the climate control
system itself.
I took apart the head, sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner.
All the switches work, they just seem to require a little extra
pressure now.
The problem indicated is that on channel 01, I get a 15 code -
problem with the potentiometer on the temp regulating flap.
My guess is the motor is stuck, the wiring to the motor has
a break, or perhaps there is a problem with the controller.
I have the center console out (also for stereo install, so I
can kill two birds with one stone) but I still can't get
to that motor. If I could, I would take it out, jump voltage
to it and see if it works, or if it can be cleaned up/repaired.
Since I can't, I'm waiting on the mechanic to do this for
me but odds are we will replace the motor with a new one.
Before I spend the money though, I want to make sure this is
the problem.
The 15 error code was intermittent for a while, but now is constant.
At times I had lots of heat, or some heat, or like now, no heat.
That points to something in the motor sticking I think...
Frustrated as heck...
