Sick puppy still won't start.
The search engine for the archives is still down, and manual skimming of the
archives is going VERY slowly. So I submit this to the list, knowing full
well I could probably eventually find it - but I'm not sure it would be in
this lifetime!
Vehicle: '87 5K CSTQ
Problem: It quit running. Car was in second gear, mild downhill slope, maybe
20 m/h. Gravel road. No warning, simply died. At least no warning symptoms
I recognized.
What I've checked:
Chassis to intake ground (per Phil Payne), found one was loose.
Changed fuel pump.
Changed fuel filter.
Changed cold start regulator.
Timing belt is in place.
Timing is OK.
Fuel pump relay (two different ones).
What I've observed:
Fuel pump does not kick in when switch is turned on, but will run when the fp
relay is bridged.
Fuel pump does run while the starter is engaged.
There is no spark to the plugs.
Using ether in the intake does not allow the car to run.
The car reports no fault codes.
The car does have compression.
Additional suggestions and comments appreciated (cause I'm tired of driving
the Chevy and Volvo!!!!!!)
Thanks.
