A6 headlights

A couple of weeks ago, I had seen one of the new A6's drive by in my town.
It had the Xenon hid headlights. Directly behind it was a new LS400 and a
few cars behind that was an S class Merc. All had the HID headlights. What
I noticed was that the Audi's HID lights were a deeper shade of the
blue/purple than the Lex and Merc. I wanted to know if certain
manufacturers manipulate the wavelengths or if it's just a thing with
optics, etc. BTW: I have noticed that projector HID's are generally deeper
shades of purple. The Lincoln is very purple, as well.
