Pro Rally in the US is small potatoes

Why is Pro Rally not very popular in the US?
There is a reason - at least this is what I hear - SCCA is the sanctioning body for Pro Rally in the US. The SCCA wants to keep Pro Rally as small, low-key 'non-spectator events'. The liability issues and problems with spectators spread out over miles of wilderness or mountain roads, often miles from nowhere, at night, in blizzards, with moose to hit, is a liability nightmare and a lawyer's dream come true. Simply put, the SCCA does not promote Pro Rally events as spectator events.

Ummm...I think you missed my point Paul. I never stated that this was a BAD
thing...heck, I like watching all kinds of racing too, and have been to many
a CART, TRANS-AM, IMSA, and whatever other kind of racing I can think of.
The point I was trying to make, that didn't come across very clearly
apparently, was that this type of racing environment seems to suit most
American fans that much better. Be it good or bad, that just seems to be
the way it is. If anything, IMHO, Rallying doesn't allow ENOUGH fans to go
and spectate at these events, which is a big problem in attracting new
interest.

cya!
