RE: ac compressor retrofit: 87.5 CGT

Michael,
Converting to 134A might not be a good idea for you, in this "furnace" area
that you live in, a retrofitted system will have a hard time coping with the
heat. Your present system is designed for R12 and has a less "efficient"
components; evaporator, condenser, less efficient means "harder to get rid"
of the heat which results in higher cabin temperature. You also have to
remember that each system will act a "bit" different so it is difficult to
tell you exactly what you will end up with. Another intresting note is that
some of the 134A systems that I deal with "have a hard time" dealing with
the desert temperatures (AZ,NV), and those are systems that are designed
"from the ground up" as 134A systems (condenser, usually not big enough)to
cope with 110F+
If you decide to go the "retrofit route" make sure you let us know the
results, I, for one would love to know.
BTW, I just resealed my Nipondenzo compressor, the mfld ORings were leaking
and it is working very well now.
