Whoa Betty! You don;t need to remove/dismantle the speedo mechanism
itself. You get at the odo parts from the back of the speedo/odo unit,
you'll see the little number wheels with their gears and the steel shaft
through them, the offending white gear driven by the trans feed gear
chain, etc.
This is not a task for the faint hearted, requires fairly decent
tiny-stuff troubleshooting chops. Especially of you want to reset the
odometer to the prideful mileage it should show....
