5ktq Exhaust Bracket

The bracket that holds the back of the cat on my 5ktq has given up the ghost. So I pulled
the cat last night to get access to replacing the bracket. 

Anyway the connector flange that joins the exhaust pipe to the back of the cat is rusted
through. This will make it difficult to join the pipe back up with the cat. Since the flange is
attached to the pipe before the pipe is flared how do I get a new one on there? Does the 
pipe have to be cut? I was thinking of maybe cutting a new flange in two, inserting it over the 
pipe and having it welded back on?

I have the same problem with my '83 ur-q. The connector flanges rust out long before the
SS pipes, what's the fix?
