RE: No Fuel/Temp Gauges!!!

Interesting problem in my fiancee's 1990 80 automatic. While the
rest
of the instrument cluster seems to function properly, the fuel and
temp
gauges do not work at all. When she pointed it out to me, I checked
all
the fuses to no avail. I did notice, however, a little light red
capacitor on the driver side floorboard rated 23 VAC and 3,3 uF X
9.
Besides the usual suspects, grounds, broken traces, bad connectors, those
two gauges run off of a 10V (?) power regulator built into the instrument
panel (at least on 1988 90s) If this fails, I think the clock also fails,
or a clock light, or something. Consult your Bentley for whats hooked up
there to confirm it is not the regulator. Note that the circuit board is
prone to failures, so it could be a trace connected to the regulator. I
don't recall seeing this cap in my car or my wife's (with trip computer).
