Diff. ISVs interchangeable?

I've been looking for a spare ISV #035 133 455F, before doing surgery on mine
(87 5kcstq). I plucked one from a slightly different shaped (improved?) with
same hose/elect connections from a 90 Jetta #034 133 093.
Anyone know if these things are interchangeable?
Any harm (electrical concern) in trying?
