One beep or three beeps? One beep means something not critical, like worn
brake pads, low washer fluid level, burnt bulb etc. Three beeps are for
important items like no oil pressure, overheat, no brake fluid etc.

Bad sensor.

Difficult to tell without further investigation. Try pulling fault codes.

Few seconds is not normal indeed. Mine takes about a second usually.
Problems like these can sometimes be cured by replacing the fluid and
cleaning the filter.

First check for vacuum leaks. Once you have vacuum leaks fixed, you can try
adjusting the mixture and idle. E-mail me privately if you need the
procedure.

Inspect the oil lines for corrosion. Expensive when new, can be repaired or
substituted with aftermarket parts, but are PITA to replace anyway.
