The inlet manifold is fairly easy to get on or off in the car, and
its removal makes the mass more manageable. My procedure leaves the
EM on the head until it hits the bench.

One of the drawbacks of the Dialynx manifold is the raised logo cast
into the top of the manifold - it makes accessing two of the Allen
screws holding the inlet manifold in place quite difficult.

Virtually impossible, on the ur-quattro. It's also best to tackle
old EM nuts with six-point sockets and wrenches. I've found both
12mm and 13mm nuts on Audi EMs - I have a _WONDERFUL_ flat ring (box)
spanner (wrench) from FACOM - 12mm + 13mm, six-point.

With fuel injection, cleanliness is everything. Leaving the lines on
the metering head keeps the system dirt-tight, apart from the feed
and return lines.

Both Roger and I now do a 'dry run' reassembly as soon as all the
broken studs are out. Both of us have had every recent rebuild 'go
bad' with a snapped stud during reassembly. I now routinely replace
_all_ studs except the cam cover and cam belt cover ones with new.
