A4 Dash problem... AGAIN!

Once again my center display(A.K.A. my trip computer) has randomly started
fading at the edges. about 8/10 times I'll start my car the trip computer
readout will start to fade out around the edges. some times it won't but
those times are few and far apart. Any suggestions?

P.S. What is the cable/software set that lets you adjust the car's computer
settings(i.e. window up/down from remote, etc.)? And is it availible to
everyday people or is it a dealer only type thing?
