Driveshaft CV Joint Play - What is Normal?

    Does anyone who has R&R'd their driveshaft know how much rotational play
(if any) is normal in the CV joints at each end?

    I was lubing the u-joint on the '91 200q yesterday & checked the CV
joints and centre bearing. Both CV joints have about 1/16 - 1/8" rotational
play. You can hold the flange stationary and rotate the drivshaft 1/8"
before it stops with a metallic, ringing, clank. Both joints are the same.
Is this normal, or is it, as I suspect, "bad news"?

    Interestingly enough, the u-joint and centre bearing seem to be fine.
