... that is indeed the $500 question!  I can tell you that the 2-piece EM as
supplied by Audi does NOT bolt up to a WX engine without some work.  I would
recommend that if this project does go forward that the new parts be able to
bolt onto a WX engine.  

The other thing to keep in mind is that those 2 hunks of cast iron don't
comprise the sum total of the $800.  Even with the rip-off EM castings
you're going to need to buy the tubes and other ancillary bits from Audi ...
I don't know how much these additional parts cost ...
