Those O2 sensor sockets with a slot in the side tend to flex a lot...
at least mine does.  I'm beginning to think they are only suitable
for installation.

Since some O2 sensors practically weld themselves in, for removal,
cutting the wires and a deep socket may be a better idea,
or cutting the top of the sensor off as you suggest if you don't
have a socket deep enough.
