i have a similar sound and it appears originate from a crack at the weld
where the seat bottom pan is attached to the tubular frame.
i am fairly certain this is also the cause of my "loose" seatback.
it also lets the lower seat bottom trim pop out of the groove easily.
btw this is on leather/electric 86 tqw seats...
