FWIW, I had my first frive of an A3 quattro today, in 180hp 1.8T trim.  The
drive was short and hampered by mobile chicanes of various makes, so I did
not get a good impression of what the car feels like on the limit.  From
what it looks like, I'm booked for May 25-27 for a thorough drive of the
225hp TT quattro, hopefully I'll get to know Haldex better at that time.
