I don't know of any way to stop headers being downloaded.

In the case of the post to which I am replying:

                            Bytes

Total received:              1787
Preamble headers:            1495
Content:                       80
.sig:                         190

Omitting the marginal usefulness of the .sig (and it _is_ sometimes
useful) less than 4.5% of what I paid to download was content.

If your 200bhp ur-quattro only delivered 9bhp, you'd be pretty pissed.
