I dont; trust where things "sound" like they are coming from. I have a
wheel bearing beginning to go (tightening the axle nut has bought me
some time...) and I felt it as a accel pedal vibration when lifting off!
there are obviously many things to check out and eliminate.
Anyway, CV joints tend to "click", especially when cornering hard
(slowly!). Wheel bearings will vibrate, often only when steering
slightly, often just at higher speeds.

Symptom: in a high speed (i.e. 45+mph) situation, with the gas off, there is a rhythmic thumping coming from under the car -- I can even sort of feel it coming, it seems, more from under the drivers side. It changes in frequency with speed, but is not affected by brakes, gear or clutch. It is not a problem while accelerating or cruising, just when taking off the gas. I looked quickly underneath, but did not see anything obviously amiss.
