IMHO, I dont think they are needed, and both the ignition and
throttle body would be a complete waste of money! see my web page

I know of VW motors (basically the same CIS) running 500hp
nitro dragsters running off the stock ignition! There is no way you will
notice a significant power increase, or even be able to compare it to a
turbo swap!!!!!!! Put your money into the cylinder head (ports, valve
size, cam), exhaust, and even compression (NG motor) to get power first.
Most after
market VW tuners dropped their throttle body upgrades because they did not
offer any upgrade on stock. Bosch has a great book out, it actually
describes both the ignition and fuel systems, and talks about how they are
both really over designed(performance) in the first place. Their is not
really an easy "bolt on" for power on this car...
