more A/C questions

The A/C on my 89 200tq is not working this season.  Took a look around
and discovered that both high pressure switches in front of the condesor
have obviously leaked.  All other seals _appear_ OK.  I can replace the
2 seals, but what I am curious about is recharging.  The local place
charges like $50 + $40/lb R-12 but I happen to have three 1 lb cans of
R-12 sitting around.  Is it still possible to find the attachment to
recharge the car my self?  Where?  Is it possible to install tracer dye
with this method (just for future leaks)?  How?
