I don't know how long it will last, but ...

I came home today through the lanes, because the A14 was advertised as
"congested".  On the last leg, there's a two-mile straight that you
can enter (in an ur-quattro) at around 80mph.

I use it as a test track, and did.  As I started to run out of road
with the village of Orlingbury fast approaching, I decided to de-warp
the brake disks and did the usual three vicious brakings with a pause
between and a run-out at the end of about 25mph for 100 yds to the
"Stop" sign.  As I rounded the last bend - PC Plod with a lidar unit
on a tripod.
