RE:need info - FAST! 86 5KTQ distributor

On the distributor wires, his bibles also show 2 different sets.  One is
listed for use with distributor cap with "centre stud". I looked at my
cap and didn't see a centre stud so we ordered the other set.   Any BTDT
on this either?

The "centre stud" distributor cap is just that. If you pull a plug wire from
the dist you will see a stud in the center that holds the wire vs the
"standard" type retention system. These wires are usually more expensive,
also.
Most of the time there is a serial number or tag on the distributor. The
parts place usually has these numbers for ordering the parts. Just a
off-hand guess, but I think a late 85 would have the earlier distributor.
