Valve seals

I am looking to get my valve seals done by one of my local mechanics,
and I don't want to get ripped.

This is more a question for Canadian readers moreso because I want to
compare in Canadian funds and therefore I can get an accurate idea of
what my cost should be. Simply converting US funds into Canadian doesn't
always give an accurate conversion.

Who has had their 10v I5 seals done? And what did it cost?

One mechanic quoted me $300, which seemed steep. I'd rather do it
myself, especially since the head doesn't get removed, but I know I
can't. For those prices I could remove the head and get it
machined.....and that would be better.
