Speed detection

VASCAR - Visual Average Speed Computer and Recorder a glorified
stop watch which allows following cars to time you and calculate
your speed independently of the operator's. Simple and cost
effective. There is also Autovision which allows a laser link to a
video image of your vehicle linked to a hidden strip of wire in
the road rather like a hidden gatsometer or speedmaster, then
there is Truvelo, the new Gatso, the Variable Limits and the
completely automated almost fool proof Pseedchack. The Variable
Limits is linked to an iniquitous device which changes speed
limits as the density increases, and then photographs offenders.
The speedchack monitors traffic from ahead comparing license
plates with windscreen stickers where required. So it looks for a
Kansas windscreen sticker for example if it does not recognize the
front plate (because none are required in Ks), then as the vehicle
passes it triggers a speed check to back up the first one taken
during the machine image photo. The citation is generated
automaticly and mailed thus. Mutiple caperas can be used with
infra red and deep UV for accurate review of dirty plates and
screens. All said, speed will become a theoretical exercise. Roll
in the Quattro system which will let us speed on tertiary roads,
with no black top of course until private vehicles are banned from
public highways completely in about 8 years.
