valve stem seals
Replacing valve stem seals is easy but getting to them is a pita. I
hope I never see another valve spring seat retainer, ever, ever again...
With compression numbers of 115/112/115/110/115 (engine half cooled off)
I would have been really happy but the leak down numbers were not so
spiffy. After switching to the correct hose (sompression test hose has
check valve in it, hmmm) and basically using the leakdown rig to hold
valves up, I got real results. Just haven't calculated them all yet.
The compressed air method works just fine. cylinder at BDC, it's not
going anywhere (in fact the air works nicely to get it there...
and even on the leakier cylinders there was no chance of the valves
falling into the cylinder...
although I did manage to drop one retainer into one spark plug hole.
(bent the end of my telescoping magnet to get that back. whew! magnet
tool now broken)
Car still runs.
