Type 44 Inspections and service

Notes for new and exchange engines:

When a new or exchange engine has been installed, certain service operations must be carried out after 1000 km. This also applies when a short engine has been installed or when extensive repairs have been carried out on the assembly.

• Check clutch and adjust if necessary
• Valve clearances: Check and if necessary adjust. Renew cylinder head cover gasket
• Engine: Visual check for leaks
• Retighten cylinder head bolts and renew cylinder head cover gaskets at 1000 km: Diesel engine (not with code letters 3D
• Engine oil: change
• Oil Filter: renew
• Road test: Check function of foot and hand brakes, clutch, gears, steering
• Exhaust and idling tests: Check dwell angle on CB systems,
  ignition timing, idling speed, CO content, and adjust if necessary
• Sticker: Enter next service due and attach to left hand side of dash panel or on door pillar (B pillar)
