was it sold in the US?

The recent fascinating post about a '50s DKW van really surprised me - one
can actually find DKW parts in the US?  I guess then, thats its probably
possible to find parts for just about anything, from messerschimdt 3 wheel
cars to turbo corvairs!

Back in the days of the late 70s/early 80s audi made a nice looking big
coupe based on the then current C2 (100/5000).  It was of comparable size
and I think it was virtually the same mechanically.  Were they ever sold in
North America?
